I have often been asked, “do you put eyes on all your FLEYES?” or,  “flash or no flash?”. Questions like those are answered this way. The smaller the bait, the more detail I put into the pattern. Most small or juvenile baits are transparent while larger baits are opaque. I tie more detail in the small imitations and rely on size and shape designs for the larger baits. 
  
The Surf Candy style FLEYES are my go to patterns for small baits such as Bay Anchovies, Silversides and Sand Eels. They all feature a prominent eye, a lateral line and a belly sack.   All were tied in separately in a wide variety of ways.  This attention to detail added time to the making of the FLEYE in most cases.   NOW, everything has changed with the introduction of FLEYE FOILS.
 
 They are designed to have the overall shape of the belly, lateral line and eye,  all in one!  Including mouth and gill markings too. 

The best idea about FLEYE FOILS is there are two sides to each FLEYE to allow effective curing of the new acrylics. FLEYE FOILS have convenient tying tabs to make attaching them simple.    Put it all together and making a more lifelike and effective Surf Candy has never been easier.

At the present there are three different styles of “Fleye Foils”. They come packaged in different sizes and amounts with a Right and Left Side for each fly. An order for one Fleye Foil will include two sides, two Fleye Foils will include four sides, etc. There is an Extra Large size for the Sand Eel and the Bay Anchovy that are not offered in this website. You can purchase these two larger sizes at your favorite Fly Shop.

SILVERSIDE: (Above)(Right and Left Side for each fly)
LARGE-   Use for bait lengths = 3″-4″.
            Hook size range = 2/0-4/0
MEDIUM-  Bait lengths = 3″
            Hook size range = #1-1/0
SMALL-   Bait lengths = 2″ – 3″
            Hook size range = #2 – #4

SAND EEL:  (Above)(Right and Left Side for each fly)
EXTRA LARGE – Bait Lengths = 5″ – 7″
                   Hook size range + 3/0 – 4/0
LARGE-  Bait lengths = 4″ -5″
           Hook size range = #1 – 1/0
MEDIUM-  Bait lengths = 3″ – 4″
             Hook size range = #2 – 1/0
SMALL-  Bait lengths = 2″ – 3″
