GRADY'S
FISHING CHARTERS Lake Texoma and the Red River are providing outstanding fly fishing opportunities for striped bass from schoolies to tackle abusers. During the past few years, fly-rodding for striped bass has become increasingly popular. Gradys Fishing Charters is one of the pioneers of fly fishing for striped bass on Lake Texoma and the red river and while we are fairly new to the game, we are learning more each day and are getting our clients into exciting fly-rod action. Located 90 minutes from downtown Dallas and three hours from Oklahoma City. The lake is home to many large marinas and convenient accommodations, ranging from primitive camp sites to well-appointed cabins, motels, and resorts, including Bed 'N Breakfast establishments which overlook the lake. LAKE TEXOMA is 55 miles long with more than 500 miles of shoreline, and is famous for its Striped Bass populations. Much of the striper fishing is casting to surface boiling schools, providing exciting top-water action; and, when they go down, they are still reachable to those tossing sinking shooting heads and time-tested flies. There is also excellent structure fishing. Trophy Smallmouth Bass fishing is the best kept secret on the lake and the current record which was set in 1996 is 7 pounds, 8 ounces. The RED RIVER below the Lake Texoma Dam is a primitive river, with abundant wildlife and very little fishing pressure. Trophy Striped Bass are the primary sport fish with the current river record at 45 lbs. I have the only Jet Boat on the river which is necessary to cross rocky shoals and sand bars to reach the deeper holes down river. Fly anglers who can toss big flies on fast-sinking or lead core shooting heads have a great opportunity to score on a serious trophy. Of course the fish can also be taken on poppers and surface plugs whenconditions are right. Please visit my web site at www.teamgrady.com for more information or send me an email. Good luck and enjoy every minute you have on the water. Grady |
